The Laboratory for Molecular Learning (LMol) investigates how protein sequence, structure, and dynamics encode biological function. Combining computational biophysics with deep learning and protein language models, we develop methods to understand, predict, and engineer protein function. Our work spans foundational mechanistic studies, data-driven exploration of sequence-function relationships, and protein design as a tool to probe and test biological hypotheses. We work in close collaboration with structural biology and experimental groups at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of Bern.
