SIB is a federation of bioinformatics research and service groups, whose Group Leaders are senior academic staff at our partner institutions.

The Institute is also piloting several Internal Groups, which are composed of SIB Employees.

SIB Management

  • The day-to-day task of SIB's Executive Management is to put in practice the Institute's strategic and scientific goals, established by the Board of Directors, whether by ensuring an optimal internal organization or by fostering long-term institutional partnerships in Switzerland and abroad.

  • The Finance and Grant Services team manages the funds allocated to SIB, i.e. 100+ Swiss, European and American funds and nearly CHF Mo 30 per year.   • The mission of the Legal and Technology Transfer Office is to protect and transfer SIB knowledge and know-how to research institutes and the industry so that the public can benefit from SIB’s innovations.   • In line with supporting SIB mission and goals, the People and Culture department brings the best of people management and organizational culture to the benefit of all employees, continuing the development of an inspiring work environment and engaged workforce.   • Dala Egger
    Head People & Culture

    Dala is responsible for the People and Culture Department. P&C’s mission is to focus its efforts on SIB’s most valuable asset: it’s people and to foster a positive working environment that attracts and inspires excellence in people. After her MSc in Psychology, Dala collected her experience in the private as well as the nonprofit sector and has a natural acumen for Talent Management and People development. Contact

  • Louis Ruppert
    Senior Security Engineer

    Lou is in charge of security at SIB. He brings a creative approach to a technical field, having served in a variety of roles in a major private university in the US, and in the secure private communications startup that brought him to Switzerland. His work harnesses cryptography, psychology, and hardening techniques to enable discovery and save lives.

  • Elsa Dubar
    Communications and Events Manager

    Elsa coordinates the scientific events in collaboration with Solange Guye. She manages the SIB Remarkable Outputs and the LS2-SIB Bioinformatics Intersection, as well as individual projects and communication campaigns. Elsa joined SIB in 2020, after having worked six years in marketing and sales for the medical industry in Germany. She is now studying an additional online Masters in Digital Communications and Marketing. Contact

  • Crystel Mangold
    Senior Executive Assistant

    Crystel’s main activities consist in supporting the Joint Executive Directors and provide assistance to SIB Management team. She holds a Swiss Federal diploma in administration and joined SIB in 2020 after having been active in the information technology and retail industries.

  • Christophe Dessimoz
    Executive Director

    Christophe first joined SIB in 2006 as a PhD student based at ETH Zurich. After a postdoc at the European Bioinformatics Institute near Cambridge (UK), he started his lab at University College London (UK) and later moved back to Switzerland at the University of Lausanne, where he remains active in research and teaching as a professor of bioinformatics alongside his executive role at SIB.

  • Solange Guye
    Events Manager

    Solange coordinates the administrative and logistical aspects of SIB major Conferences (SIB days and [BC]2) in collaboration with the scientific events manager. She also supports communication actions for the SIB Awards project and the LS2-SIB Bioinformatics Intersection, She joined the SIB in 2020 with 15 years of experience in project management and marketing communications.   • Frédéric Erard
    Head, Legal & Technology Transfer Office

    Frédéric is responsible for the Legal & Technology Transfer Office (LTTO). He is in charge of providing legal advice and support to all SIB’s groups on a wide range of law issues, in particular in the area of research and health data protection. He is a qualified lawyer (Geneva Bar, 2013) and defended a doctoral thesis in medical law from the University of Neuchâtel, 2020. He joined SIB in 2020.

  • Jean-Sébastien Fischer

    Jean-Sébastien assists and advises the Head of Finance & Grant services on management and strategic issues. He also assists the Head of the service in the smooth running of the department and ensures her back-up; prepares financial reports, organizes and manages audits. He holds a Swiss federal diploma in finance and accounting and joined SIB in 2019 after being an accounting trainer and a fiduciary agent.

  • Clément Parisato
    Senior Legal Officer

    Clement is taking care of legal affairs and assists the Head of LTTO. He is in charge of providing legal advice and support to all SIB’s groups on a wide range of law issues, negotiating and drafting agreements and internal policies. He joined SIB in 2019 after graduating a second master’s degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of Neuchâtel. He also has a keen interest in cutting-edge technologies and IP rights.

  • Jocelyne Bocquet
    Head of Finance and Grant Services

    Jocelyne is in charge of the Finance department. She ensures the financial coordination and management of all funds allocated to SIB and in which SIB is involved. She obtained a degree in Financial Management in 1982 and joined SIB in 2009, after working in different areas of financial trusts, institutions, foundations and associations.

  • Marie Dangles
    Director PR, Communications, HR & Resources Usability

    Marie is responsible for the communication and scientific events’ strategy of the SIB and ensures the coherence and implementation of all related activities. She also supervises the People & Culture department and participates to the Institute’s leadership. Marie joined SIB in 2017 with 14 years of experience and a MSc in Management & Marketing. Contact

  • Manuela Pruess
    Grant Coordinator

    Manuela is the contact person for all questions related to grant rules, both internal and external, especially concerning EU, SNSF and NIH funding. She liaises between SIB Group Leaders, the Finance team and the Legal and Technology Transfer Office. She holds a PhD in Human Genetics and joined the SIB in 2010 after having worked for German and UK research institutions.

  • Marc Filliettaz
    Director Legal, Technology transfer, Finance & IT

    Marc is responsible for financial, technology transfer, legal and data protection matters. He joined SIB in 2014 after obtaining a Master’s degree in Law at the University of Geneva. During his studies, he co-founded a Geneva-based company specializing in a new process technology for wine conditioning which continues to grow today.

  • Sandra Reinders
    People & Culture Manager

    Sandra elaborates and manages diverse People and Culture projects. In parallel, she assists and advises Group Leaders and Employees in employee life cycle matters and management questions. She joined SIB in 2015 with 20 years of experience in HR, after having worked in various countries and industries, including the academic sector. She holds a MSc degree in Management of Technology and Innovation.

  • Sabine Perlini
    Senior Accounting Assistant

    Sabine’s main activities consist in assisting the Head of Finance, and in dealing with current accounting affairs with her colleague Jean-Sébastien. She joined SIB in 2009, after having been active in several associations for 10 years. Sabine obtained a commercial degree in 1984.

  • Vanessa Monteiro Caria
    People & Culture Officer

    Vanessa manages the administrative aspects of the employees’ life cycle from hiring to departure. She also participates in various People and Culture projects. Vanessa joined SIB in 2013 as a trainee and became HR assistant in September 2014. She holds a Swiss federal diploma in higher education, in HR, since November 2019.

  • Maïa Berman
    Team Lead Communications

    Maïa manages communication projects such as press releases, videos, annual reports or newsletters, from inception to delivery. She writes and edits content for SIB’s various communication channels (e.g. website, social media). She joined SIB in 2016 after completing a PhD in Biology (Australia and France) in 2012 and working in marketing and business development at a Swiss law firm. Contact

    Communications Officer

    Sylvie maintains SIB’s website and social media accounts, designs communication materials and assists in the creation and emailing of the Communications department’s publications. Sylvie joined SIB in 2009. She holds a degree in foreign languages (English, Italian and German) as well as a degree in tourism. She also studied photography and graphic design.
