On 23 May, SIB Group Leader Torsten Schwede was appointed new Vice Rector of Research of the University of Basel, as of 1 August 2018. He will succeed to Prof. Edwin Constable.
"I think the role of bioinformatics and computational biology in the life sciences will evolve quite significantly in the coming years", he says. "And I expect SIB will have to play an increasingly important role in shaping our evolution as a scientific community".
Torsten Schwede was elected yesterday Vice-Rector of Research by the University of Basel's deanship, with a brilliant result. The University Council confirmed this choice.
