Many proteins on the surfaces of cells can have glycans present on them which allows their binding to other proteins. Studying the structures in these interactions could reveal valuable insights into physiological functions. Various databases have been developed for this purpose, but they often require knowledge of the SPARQL query language. In this in silico talk, Catherine Hayes from the group of Frédérique Lisacek presents GlycoQL, a tool that enables non-SPARQL experts to search for glycan structures, by generating automated queries.
