Amos was a precursor in the truest sense of the word. He built things before there was a name for the field, before recognition or metrics, simply because he felt they needed to exist for science to move forward.

What always struck me was the complete absence of hidden agenda. His choices were guided by clarity of purpose and intellectual honesty. This earned him deep trust across the community.

Beyond the science, Amos was profoundly human. Generous with his time, attentive to others (his habit of thanking everyone by name at the end of his presentation springs to mind!), genuinely interested in people as much as in ideas. Many of us went further because he opened doors, provided encouragements, or gave honest feedback.

His legacy is not only in the resources he created, but in the culture he nurtured: one of service, generosity, and integrity.
