A remembrance by
Amanda Capes-Davis
I first met Amos online in 2015 when we discussed cell line issues and the possibility of him joining ICLAC - a voluntary committee focused on misidentified cell lines - as a member. Over time we became close colleagues, exchanging information and brainstorming how best to highlight cell line problems through Cellosaurus and the ICLAC Register of Misidentified Cell Lines. We shared a passion for good science and - equally importantly - curation of good scientific information. I still cannot believe he is gone.
Looking back I treasure all my interactions with Amos and particularly the time we spent together in 2023 as part of the Cell Line Symposium held at the University of Lausanne. We were able to spend time together at a professional and personal level and I feel very fortunate to have that time to remember.
Amos is much missed but his legacy endures, particularly his beautifully curated resources and passion for good science that he shared so generously with students and colleagues.
