Overview

This course is aimed at sciCORE users, PhD students and Postdocs without (or very little) experience with Linux and that are new to the usage of high-performance infrastructures. Within a very practical focus, we will provide the tools needed to use the Linux command line and to interact with the sciCORE clusters. All new users of sciCORE are strongly encouraged to follow this course.

The course will have a twist towards the usage of the sciCORE/BC2 cluster (life science), but the know-how is easily transferable to the usage of the sciCORE/Maia cluster (general applications).

Prerequisites

Each participant should bring their own laptop with WiFi, and have a valid account on the BC2 cluster. We recommend to install MobaXterm (Windows) or XQuartz (Mac) in order to have X11 tunneling capabilities enabled.

If you don't have an account in BC2 and want to attend this course, please contact us at scicore-admin@unibas.ch. Registration with the University of Basel and a valid unibas email account is required.

Application

This course is currently full, however you can apply for the waiting list. We will be offering this course again soon.

The course is free for members of the UniBas community, but registration is mandatory. To apply please follow this link

Please note that participation in SIB courses is subject to our general conditions.
