SPHN Semantic Interoperability Framework - Domain Survey

SPHN Semantic Interoperability Framework - Domain Survey

The Semantic Interoperability Framework of the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) has been continuously developed since 2018 to allow the exchange of health-related data in an interoperable manner for research. It aims to ensure that information can be interpreted consistently by both, humans and machines - across projects, systems, countries, and time.
To this end the SPHN Semantic Interoperability Framework uses international standards, controlled vocabulary, a graph-based representation of the data in RDF, and well-defined units of meaning (concepts) as building blocks to ensure that biomedical data is represented in a clear and unified manner across institutions and projects (links to introduction and latest version).

Domains currently covered in varying degrees of detail include administrative items (administrative case, consent), demographics, medications, procedures, diagnoses, laboratory results, measurements (vital signs), samples and biobanks, special concepts for oncology, intensive care, microbiology, omics results and processing, data provenance, and imaging metadata.

This survey will help to determine domains of interest for the community which future releases of the SPHN Semantic Interoperability Framework may extend to.
Thanks in advance for your constructive input, it is highly appreciated!
