Following the success of previous editions, children aged 9 to 14 are once again invited to take part in SIB's bioinformatics hackathon in Geneva on Saturday 23 March (more information and registration).

Meet with our bioinformaticians to get some insights into how computer programming can be applied to life science problems! "It is just amazing to see that kids can write small but real computer applications within just half a day" says SIB's Heinz Stockinger, Chair of the Organizing Committee.

Using the Scratch programming language, previous participants were able to design and program their own 'apps' and games, covering biological themes: a 'Super Mario game', a 'biological sequence analyzer' or a 'Protein vs DNA clapometer', to cite but a few.

The event is part of the Open Geneva Innovation Festival - see list of 2019 events.
